This is a coloured map of the town centre bounded by John's Road to the west, Town Mills to the north, Plaisance to the east, and Victoria Pier to the south. Buildings blocks are shown diagramatically and some individvual buildings are named.

37 principal buildings are identified in a schedule, some of which are dated. Open areas are depicted in various shades of green, and other features such as quarries are shown.

The printers were Apert & Vavasseur, Paris. The lithographers are Harent.
