John Edward Coombs Album

Photographic album documenting events in Jersey during World War One. Compiled by John Edward Coombs and his son Gordon Owen Coombs between 1914 and 1918, the album covers the training of new recruits and the return of serving soldiers, the departure of English and French for the frontlines and the arrival of German prisoners of war. Alongside these familiar war subjects, John recorded the life of civilian's as they endeavoured to support those who had been sent to war.
